Securing our communication over the internet is vital and essential to keep prying eyes or malicious actors away from valuable data transmitted through the vast space of the web. In addition to best security practices, encryption adds another level of barrier against the unknowns and keeping your data private. Several security algorithms are currently in use to help us securing the internet. These cryptographic algorithms are all easily accelerated by Intel’s QuickAssist Technology (QAT). Beyond typical internet workloads, QAT is also able to accelerate important wireless hashing and ciphering algorithms such as AES, Snow 3G, and ZUC utilized in 5G networks. These functionalities are accessible through the common DPDK commands, allowing quick development and deployment.

In the past few generations, QAT acceleration block resided inside the PCH connected to the CPU through additional PCIe lanes from the CPU, whether x8 or x16. There were multiple performance level of accelerators, but distilled into a single higher performance PCH SKU in the Whitley platform with C627A that offers up to 100Gbps throughput in AES128. AEWIN offers QAT acceleration with our 2nd and 3rd generation Xeon-SP platforms as an option. These platform are excellent base to build your network computing appliance with on-board crypto acceleration. AEWIN also provide QAT acceleration add-on cards (OT002/OT008) for additional crypto processing power or as after-sales extra for additional capabilities. These are available with or without 4x SFP+ 10Gbps additional ethernet connections, maximizing value of the card.
